In News.com:
Microsoft Concentrates on Portal
An update from CNET's News.com said that Microsoft has basically abandoned
its efforts on MSN, and is now focusing on its coming portal called Start.
One analyst said: "Microsoft's realizing that there's a better business
model in Web-based content, like what they're doing with their properties
[such as CarPoint, Expedia, and Investor]. It makes them less interested
in proprietary content." Of course, Slate is for-pay proprietary content,
that comes free with MSN. So if Microsoft's attention is focused on services,
Slate is barely on the radar screen.
